Alkylthio-based asymmetric liquid crystals: unravelling the substituent effects and intercalated cybotactic nematic and smectic phases

چکیده
A homologous series of alkylthio- and alkoxy-based asymmetric calamitic liquid crystal (LC) molecules was developed. The effects alkylthio groups on the phase transition properties unexpected intercalated LC structures were studied.
